But I was on a long c onference call and was bored. But does Jalopnik even try any more? Neither the author nor an editor caught this?
Despite handing over $2.2 billion in penalties for the Volkswagen Dieselgate engines emissions-cheating scheme, parent-company Daimler still denied any liability
I mean, c’ mon man. If I ran Daimler, I also would deny liability for VW’s dieselgate scheme.

I’m still being called evil for suggesting someone should not go looking for a wounded deer when alone on a dark rural highway

Latest update on the piece:
( Correction note: A previous version of this section claimed Volkswagen and Daimler were related companies, when they are in fact competitors. That was stupid.)

At this point I don’t even remember who wrote it but some article a few weeks ago had an obvious spelling error in the opening sentence and it never got fixed.

I would say doubling back is appropriate if it might have been an old man and not a deer and you happen to be a state attorney general.

Does one have to be the boss, or would this also apply to the assistant state attorney general?

Nice that they fixed it, but it would be even better if they tried to get the facts right the first time (or even the second time during the editing process). I guess they are too busy trying to politicize every post. lol

I think assistant AGs should follow the same rule. This is classic DUI avoidance behavior but I have no way of knowing if this guy was drunk just saying this is how you get out of a DUI if you had been.

If the person is drunk they should not be doubling-back to anything

Lol yes if they are drunk they shouldn't be driving at all but leaving an accident and calling it in is how people try to avoid a dui. Then when the cops come to your house, you answer the door with a drink in hand and it is much harder to prove dui as you have been out of the car and drinking legally at home.

Everyone knows when the cops come to your house they don’t knock and shoot you in the face

I’ve hit 3 of the damn things over the years, two of them were lightly injured, if at all, and ran off before I could do anything. The third was pretty messy, despite missing a rear leg and half its torso, it still took 3 shots to the hea d to die.

And then we have Canada, where last year they changed the law so the cops can show up at your door and breathalyze you if you’ve been driving within the last 2 hours, and charge you with DUI if you’re over the limit at that point . Or if you refuse to provide a sample.
I mean, OBVIOUSLY there’s nothing that could go wrong here... turdeau can go fuck himself

The quality of most of the “journalists”/”experts” (bloggers/wikipedia searchers) matches the quality of most of the commenters. A match made in heaven.

I’d go back just for the venison. Especially if it was already tenderized by a moving vehicle.

I know what happened here... what the writer’s thinking jumped too far ahead of his fingers.
He was thinking about how dieselgate started with VW and was also then thinking of Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz... and those two ideas got muddled together.
I’ve made the same mistake at times.
